Hello All,
Shooting the question straight forward:
We have Production Databases, in SQL Server, running here in India and 2 Disaster Recovery(DR) site for them - One in India on a storage server where full database backups are made every night with maintenance plans and other in some other country where log-shipping is used for replication of databases. We ship logs through a tunnel setup between the Primary and the secondary database.
Till last month everything was fine. Full database backups are still working fine here, but due to space issues on other DR site we had to stop the replication. Now the DBAs say that we need to change our approach for DR on other site. That means they don't wanna go anymore with log-shipping replication.
Can anyone suggest what could be he best approach to prepare a DR Site provided the DBAs have decided not to go with log-shipping any more.
Also, a suggestion has come to implement SFTP for DR Site. I am not a Database Administrator, but I really want to know - What SFTP is? Of course I read some articles over internet about it but how is it useful in my case? Can anyone guide me to a good article detailing this topic and how to implement this?
Thanks in Advance.
Best Regards,
