I've administered a SQL cluster before, but it's been several years. Can you remind me of best practice to apply a SQL service pack on a SQL 2012 Failover Cluster Instance? Do you simply run the service pack installer on the passive node, then move the SQL Server role over to the passive node, and run the installer on the other node? So in the Failover Cluster Manager, you right-mouse on Roles and select Move? Or is there more to it like modifying resource ownership or preferred node settings, or maintenance mode?
How do you verify that the service pack was applied on each node?
