Hello -
We have a situation where we will be delivering a large application upgrade package to Production. We will shutdown the applicaton while we run the upgrade scripts. We currently also have transactional replication running updates to a reporting DB.
Question: Would it be a viable solution to implement DB Snapshots so we can quickly recover to the point before we started the upgrade? This would be much faster than teh 4 hours it takes to restore from a backup. I understand though that this will break replication. The DB is around 400GB size.
Does anyone have experience and success using DB snapshots in this type of scenario?
Thanks!
