I recently had to rebuild my hard drive and re-install SQL Express 2008 R2 SP2. I have a client who also has SQL 2008R2 (both versions are the express version). I have gotten backups from them before with no issue but now when I get a backup I get the error:
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.ConnectionInfo)
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The media family on device 'F:\NewHaven082713.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family.
RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3241)
I have gone back to the client's site and created a new backup and put it directly on my flash drive. I then issued the RESTORE VERIFYONLY.... command and was returned a postive message saying it was a valid backup set. Yet when I try to restore from that same flash drive into my SQL installation I get the error above. Again, both SQL versions are the same. Please help. Thanks
