Hi,
I have
Windows 2012 Standard AND SQL 2012 Standard
Configuration Manager do not allow me to turn the AlwaysOn availability option in settings and default message is "You need 64-bit enterprise edition of windows 2012"
However as per MSDN SQL 2012 features - SQL server 2012 Standard edition does support 2 node cluster
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993.aspx
Questions:
- How to use AlwaysOn feature with standard windows and standard sql server?
- If not then Why anyone need enterprise edition of windows but just Standard Edition of SQL Server? Why Microsoft thought like that?
- In Standard edition, if it support 2 node cluster then effectively it will be like Mirroring - with few new fancy features of AAG or am i missing something?
Thanks.
