Hi.
I have followed instructions to setup S2D without a domain controller:
https://sqlmastersconsulting.com.au/SQL-Server-Blog/how-to-build-a-non-domain-cluster/
https://www.virtualizationhowto.com/2018/10/configuring-windows-server-2019-storage-spaces-direct-s2d-in-vmware-vsphere/
I have setup the S2D successfully, it is working. Then I tried to setup the SQL Server 2019 Standard with FCI. Now I'm stucked at configuring the sevice accounts - it says that I have to use a domain-account. Is there any way to use SQL Server FCI without a domain? Actually for my webserver-configuration (just 2x IIS, 2x SQL-Server - anything more) I don't need the DC at all... I just want to keep it simple.
It looks like I have missed the part that workgroup clusters are not supported: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/sql-server/failover-clusters/install/before-installing-failover-clustering?view=sql-server-ver15#Security
Is there any way to omit this restriction?
Edit: I just have the SQL Server Standard Edition, Enterprise is to expensive. Always On Basic Availbility Group "can't be used" because I have an database per tendant, which means I would have to create an own Availbility group for > 200 databases
