MS SQL 2008 R2 restoration

Hi,

I have MS SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise server in a standalone mode.

In few months I will be purchasing a new server.

Questions

1. Can I restore my MS SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise backup into a MS SQL 2008 R2 STD edition ?

2. I plan to implement a failover cluster with 2x windows 2008 R2 STD with a Dell EQL

---> Would I be able to restore the backup of MS SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise into my MS SQL 2008 R2 Standard cluster.

---> I understand the second node (passive) in MS SQL cluster does not need to be licensed.

3. I will be using storage replication between two Dell EQL. The first site has two servers configured as a cluster (MS SQL)

The second site has only a single server running SQL 2008 R2 STD, would I be able to mount the CSV containing the SQL volume to my DR Server configured as a stand alone server?

4. My Server has 12 Cores. With hyper threading this will have a total of 24 threads.  I read on TechNet the limit is only 16 Cores or four processors. Do I need to consider the 24 threads or just the 12 Cores when licensing the server for SQL 2008 R2 STD per server licensing? As I understand I only need 1x Windows 2012 STD license which I will downgrade.

---> Can I downgrade Windows 2012 STD into Windows 2008 R2 ENT ?

Thanks,

Paul
