Hello,
I have several SQL2012 Always on configurations and maintenance plans don't work the way I would want them to. Now I am wondering what Microsoft thinks is the best practice for maintenance plans on Always on servers.
For example I have a 3 server configuration (primary, sync secondary, async secondary). I can configure a working maintenance plan (full back-up, reindex) on the primary, but I would also like to have a full back-up and reindex when the primary server fails. So I configure a similar maintenance plan on the sync secondary. The back-up fails (because the verify option is on) and the reindex fails too. Now I have a lot of failed jobs, which cause a 'blindness' for other failed jobs that do matter.
I am sure this is not the way Microsoft wants it to work. How can I do this better??
thanks for the help in advance,
Theo
