I am trying to setup always on (windows 2012, SQL 2012)... but it complains that SQL must be on a Windows Failover Cluster Node.
When I try to configure windows failover cluster. the wizrard runs all the tests successfully, but fails immediately when it tries to crate the cluster.
If you have configured Windows Failover cluster can you tell me what were the prerequisites?
1. do you need some permission in AD?
2. do you need some special permission in DNS?
3. do you need shared storage (I do mirroring on two nodes in different data centers and am looking to replace mirroring with Always on).
4. Any other pre-requisite which must be met before I start creation of cluster?
Lastly, to me windows mirroring was very simple to setup. Now Microsoft has put a hard dependency on Windows failover clustering with requires so much of specialized knowledge ... I wonder if this is a step in useful direction or not.
