I'm unable to failover a SQL instance from Node B to Node A. Everything comes up on Node A except for SQLServer & SQL Server Agent. The Server Name and drives go to Online status on node A, SQL Server goes to Online Pending status, and SQLServer Agent stays in Offline status. Then I get a Failed status on SQL Server, and the instance reverts back to Node B.
This has been working well for several years and I'm very perplexed about the cause. I created the cluster logs, but didn't see anything blantantly obvious (I'm not a cluster guru).
The Event logs wern't very helpful either. In the Application log I see numerous Event ID 19019. In the System Log I see Event IDs 1069, 7034 & 1205.
I worked with EqualLogic to determine if my SAN was ok, it is. Based on the cluster logs, they suggested I had a corrupt installation on the node.
I decided to run SQL > Mainatenance > Repair from the CD on Node A, I didn't see any errors in the log from that exercize, but got the same results when I attempted the failover again.
Then I thoughjt I should remove the node then re-add it to the cluster. I'm unable to remove the node becase there are no values in the name of the SQL cluster instance, just the name of the node.
I'm running W2k8 Enterprise without Hyper-V SP2 & SQL2k8 R2 SP1.
I'm very perplexed & don't know how to resolve this. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
