Advice on SQL Backup POC tests

Hello,

We are going to be performing a POC for backup software. I don't know much about restoring SQL2008 and SQL2010 so I would like to know what tests SQL pros would want to see succeed before approving a solution. One of our DBAs will be participating later in the process.
