Multiple Instance Failover Cluster - SQL 2012

Hello,

I am trying to find some information regarding multiple instance failover cluster on SQL 2012, but can't seem to find much and definitely not something that will answer my questions.

Namely these are the things are I am having difficulty with finding:

- How many instances can a two-node failover cluster hold?

- Does it have to run on an active/active configuration, or can I put all instances on the same box and run it on an active/passive configuration? (I know this is not ideal, but just need to know)

- Can multiple instances sit on the same shared storage, or does each instance require its own shared storage? In other words, normally for a single instance two-node failover cluster one would create 3 disks: Data Files, Logs and Quorum, can I set a second instance to use the same Data File disk and Logs disk? Do I need a per-instance Quorum? Do I need a DTC? If do, is it a per-instance DTC?

- What are the best practices around storing of TempDB? I have read that in SQL 2012 it can be stored locally (rather than on shared storage), is that the best practice or should it still go onto the shared storage?

- Are there any guides out there on how to configure this that anyone is aware of?
