This is probably very easy but i'm pulling my hair out here.2012 with always on availability. Everything is working fine but the log file for the database is growing.
As a test i created a maintenance plan and tried to backup the log. This ignored the database completely although it did create the directory that would have been used.I then took the database out of the availability group and tried running the job again which worked fine and backup up the log.
Double checked by putting it back in the availability group and run backup log plan which it ignored again. So you can''t backup the log when the database is in an availability group.
But my log file is getting larger and larger, so does anyone have any ideas as to keep the logfile relatively small.
