Adding new node to existing SQL Server 2008 R2 cluster

Hi,

I have an active/passive cluster on SQL Server 2008 R2 with one server active and the second server as my passive. I have 2 named instances installed on one machine which run on the active node. I would like to add a new node to this cluster so that in the end I'll have 3 nodes, 2 active and one passive. The 2 active nodes will both be failing over to the one passive server.

On the new node that i am adding i would like to move one of the instances to run on this new node. So i would have each instance on one of the 2 servers. Any one have any ideas or instructions on how to add new node to cluster and also to move one instance to the new node?

Since both instances installed on one server do i need to do any migrating of the instance and what steps do i need to take.

Thanks for the help!

AJ
